Payback is a 1999 American film starring Mel Gibson (Porter) as a thief left for dead and his attempt to get the money owed him back. There is much cleverness and ingenuity in Payback, but Mel Gibson is the key. The movie wouldn't work with an actor who was heavy on his feet, or was too sincere about the material.

Saw II (2005) is fixed between the first and second movie, but as any Saw fan knows, the plot really doesn't matter. Instead, it's all about the cleverly designed traps and watching the gruesome outcome if you fail one of Jigsaw's tests.
