Repo Man was one of the films that came out in 1984 about a disaffected punk (Emilio Estevez) becoming a repo man, meaning that he repossesses cars of people who missed payments. He gets to know the wacky punk world even further. Aside from being a window into the early-'80s punk culture, it shows the disintegration ofAmerican society.

The Dead Zone is of course a horror film which opened up just before Halloween in 1983. It's is very much a love story, but it is among the darkest possible. Christopher Walken is so terrific in it. It has a sensitivity and human element that seems lacking in a lot of other films. It's also a great winter films, with its many snow scenes.

This was the first and best pairing of Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder. It's a romantic comedy thriller and nails every genre it aims for. Good entertainment all round, great outdoor shots of the train and the surrounding country, with an easy-going yet distinctive music score to boot. A very solid effort for the comedic duo of Wilder and Pryor.
