The Quadra is pretty much a hybrid version of ARP's Omni II and Solus synths. It's a four-section synthesizer consisting of a Bass synth, Poly synth, Lead synth, and String synth. It is quite good at emulating each of these sounds. It has been used by Pink Floyd, New order and film-maker John Carpenter.

Alesis Ion is an analog modeling synthesizer, released in 2002. It is great mostly for pop, rock and electronic music. The analog modeling on this synth is very realistic, and the sounds you can get from this are far and wide in terms of getting different sounding tones. It has been used by Klaus Schulze, Pedro the Lion and Tiny Tide.

In 1995, Alesis gave the Quadrasynth an upgrade the first of these were QS6 & QS7 synths. They are a powerful multitimbral synthesizers from the effects-box geniuses at Alesis. In the 80's Akai's early products included the AX80 8-voice analog synthesizer, and the Akai AX-60 and AX-73 6-voice analog synthesizers. They have useful noise generator and some other cool functions. They have been used by by Mark Bell (LFO) on Bjork's Homogenic.
